Joshua’s Day

Joshua Ruiz is a software engineering graduate student.

Originally from Colombia, Joshua earned his undergraduate degree at UT Rio Grande Valley while playing chess and came to UTD so he could continue playing chess competitively while working on his graduate degree.

Though he would normally be on campus, Joshua spent the fall semester in Colombia to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. He continued to virtually take classes and play chess throughout the semester.

In addition to chess, Joshua regularly practices mixed martial arts and ping pong, and during the pandemic he discovered a new love for bicycling.

Follow Joshua as he spends his day on the bike, practicing chess and being the best Comet he can be through the pandemic.
