Melodie’s Day

Melodie Saucedo is an applied sociology graduate student.

A longtime Comet, Melodie earned an undergraduate degree in sociology from UT Dallas where they were involved in Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority and the Diversity Scholars Program, in addition to other activities. Currently, Melodie is working on a graduate degree and writing a thesis about institutional policies and practices in higher education environments with a specific focus on the experiences of LGBTQ+ students of color.

In addition to coursework, Melodie is a student worker in the Galerstein Gender Center (GGC). They work as a community educator, a role assisting in coordinating and executing events for GGC. They have managed programs specifically focused on educational topics and student identity while also co-facilitating and presenting at University-specific SAFE ZONE Ally Trainings and other LGBTQ+ student programs.
